We first met up with Debbie and Will over at Winder Hall Country House on a sunny afternoon a few months ago. They have both worked in the beautiful Cumbrian outdoors and were really keen to show this in their wedding photography. Once we had a look around the lovely Winder Hall we took a drive down to Lanthwaite wood which leads right out onto the very top shoreline of Crummock Water; stunning in the late afternoon sun. We spent half an hour talking through all the amazing shots we could take of the mountains, the weir and woodlands…. and then, in what seemed like no time at all, the day of the wedding came!!
We all knew the night before that the next morning Cumbria was going to greet us with a grey, overcast and drizzly day. We thought our chances of getting anything now were likely gone… However, straight after the ceremony, we were lucky enough to get a burst of bright sunshine for the formal shots and so decided to jump in the 4×4 and get down to Crummock Water and see what we could do. By the time we did get there the weather had closed in again but, to Debbie and Will’s credit, they soldiered on in the wind and the cold for a good 30 minutes so we could capture the scene and we are so grateful to them for it.
Having since spoken with Debbie I am also glad to hear they are back from their, rather more active than usual, honeymoon after being stranded up a mountain overnight, unprepared at 4000 meters!!!!
